2 Kings 1; Thess 1

It's funny how an old testament moment of judgement becomes a real life picture of the day "the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance who do not know God and those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord." Yet not quite the same - that which strikes fear also brings marvel, "among all who have believed".

The weight of decision making today is seen in the light of eternity - in both the big and small choices of life, may God "make us worthy of HIS calling (not ours!) and fulfill our every resolve to do good.... so that our Lord Jesus may be glorified in us, and us (finally) in HIm."

We matter to Him. We are never pushed along by the rivers of time and circumstances. Even an accidental slip from a lattice is ordained by the Lord (2 Kings 1). Even judgement reminds us of His goodness.
